Self care: what a buzzword for all moms.

What does self-care even mean?

I define self-care as anything or decision you make that makes you feel good or calm.  It’s what you do to keep yourself full, your soul nourished, and your pitcher full. (read more about keeping your pitcher full here.)

For the next 6 weeks, I’m going to be exploring self-care and how we can incorporate it into our lives as busy moms.

Before I had kids, I had a grandiose idea of what self-care meant (a weekly manicure…yea, I know…far fetched).  Now that I am entrenched in motherhood, I recognize that self-care is different for each of us and can change as our children do.

Here’s what’s going to happen: each week I will post a video about self-care, how we can incorporate it into our daily lives, and provide  a doable challenge.  See this week’s here.
This week’s challenge: do ONE thing for 5 days that makes you feel good, something you KNOW is good for you.  I’m not talking about something big (although, if you want to do that, that’s great, too), I’m talking about one decision per day (for 5 days) that you feel good about.  

For example, maybe you don’t have that third cup of coffee because it makes you jittery & your patience thin (even though you are exhausted and in that moment it may seem helpful).  Or, you go outside for 2 minutes and take some deep breaths instead of tackling the dishes in the sink.  The list can be endless, but the point is: make one decision a day for you and only you.

I promise, it will make your days a little brighter.
