i am a mother to three beautiful and loving children on the east end of long island.

with each transition, i underestimated the support i would need to survive.

the first postpartum period was the worst; my support network was not thought out.

i suffered both emotionally and physically in the early months.

breastfeeding was hard.

i second guessed every parenting decision, big or small.

i cried.  a lot.

the second postpartum period was better.

i was better prepared, knew what to expect (to a degree), and was comfortable reaching out to my support network.

by the third postpartum period, i felt like i should have been a pro.

i was not.

but, i survived.

love and support got me through.

all moms should have a community unconditionally supporting them in all aspects of postpartum.
